NATIONAL APPEAL
Over the years, the Nigeria Association of the Blind (NAB) has come to accept the words of The National Federation of the Blind that "The real problem of blindness is not the loss of eyesight. The real problem is the misunderstanding and lack of information that exists. If a blind person has proper training and opportunity, blindness can be reduced to a physical nuisance."

This is why we have developed a strategic action plan to improve the lives of blind and visually impaired people in various geopolitical areas of Nigeria.

Among other things, the strategic plan is designed to achieve the following:

  • To equip our members with independent daily living skills;
  • Acquisition of Accessible national secretariat in Lagos;
  • To facilitate Braille literacy reading and writing;
  • Extension of existing 2012-2014, 3-year youth empowerment project (AYEP) for blind and partially sighted undergraduate students to increase their employment opportunities and enhance their social participation;
  • To hold the NAB quadrennial national Congress and 2014 International White Cane Day;
  • To Establish Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre;
  • The Establishment of Braille production centre.

To achieve these, the association aims to raise 68,000,000 (sixty-eight million) Naira by partnering with 68,000 (sixty eight Thousand) persons.
Please be our partner in this laudable objective by donating at least N1,000 (ONE THOUSAND) naira  to meet this target. We trust that your sacrifice of love to our members will be worth every ounce in the lives touched, particularly in the following ways:

  • Blind and partially sighted people will be less a burden on their friends and society;
  • We will see their skills and talents, which have hitherto lain hidden or dormant, unlocked to the amazement of all;
  • They will be more independent;
  • They will be better able to use their full potential in personal and national development

We are confident that in our midst lie untapped human resources, the sort that have produced visually impaired cultural icons, political power brokers, social engineers, eminent scientists and even accomplished sports personalities in other countries.
